Transportation by Train

Railway provides passengers and cargo transfer within the country. Regular inter-urban (Batumi-Tbilisi) and suburban (Batumi-Ozurgeti, Batumi-Zestaponi) trips are carried out from the Railway Station located in Makhinjauri. Daytime express train leaves at 8:50am from Tbilisi Central Railway Station situated at the Railway Station Square. Tbilisi train arrives at Makhinjauri Railway Station at 15:35. Ticket costs 20 Lari. Night train leaves at 22:30 and reaches final destination at 06:30 next morning. Ticket prices vary according to the type of the carriage from 5.50 Lari for numbered seats, to 18 Lari for non modernized sleeping compartment, and 25 Lari for modernized sleeping compartments and 40 Lari for first-call compartments. Reservations can be made 15 days prior to departure by dialing (8 32) 56 34 34. Reservations are cancelled 12 hours before departure.

Transportation by Sea

Batumi port is one of the most remarkable ports in the country. Its nature maid bay serves all kinds of vessels, almost of any kind and any time of the year.

Ferry service Batumi-Ilychevsk (Ukraine) and Batumi-Constance (Romania) has been functioning since 1998. Cruise ocean liners regularly enter the harbour.

Public Transportation

Minibuses to Batumi serve about 15-20 passengers at a time. Major departure point is the Okriba Bus Station in Tbilisi. First minibus leaves for Batumi at 9am, and the last one leaves at 5pm.

Minibuses leave the Station “Dedakalaki” at 09:00, 11:30, 14:00, 16:30 19:00 and 00:00 for Batumi. Ticket price is 18-20 Gel. The trip lasts for about 6-7 hours. Reservations are only possible at Okriba Station by dialing (8 32) 34 26 92. Tickets are sold at the station box offices.

Designed thoughtfully to maximize passengers comfort and safety are available at Tbilisi Central Auto Station in Ortachala, No 1 Gulia St. Buses leave at 11:30 and 22:30. Reservations can be made a month beforehand by dialing (8 95) 22 54 41.

First-class buses also depart from the “Dedakalaki” station at 10:00, 13:00, 16:00 and 00:00. Booking is available by dialing (8 95) 22 54 42.

Auto station “Okriba” offers only one run to Batumi at 10:00. Ticket prices from all stations mentioned above are about 18 Lari. The trip takes about 7 hours with a mid way snack stop.
